K40 with Moshidraw engraving
These engravings were done by someone else since I never got Moshidraw engraving to work on my machine and I really don’t want to reinstall the troublesome winseal, Moshidraw and the NanoM2 controller to find out that it does not work again. So, I can’t tell if these engravings are the best that can be achieved. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any better examples to compare with so I go with these as a representative sample of Moshidraw. Also those engrave speeds are Moshidraw speeds and I can’t tell if these are in mm/s but let’s assume they are unless you can tell.
These are the results with engraving with Inkscape and the Grbl firmware on the Arduino R4 controller. The speed is 1400mm/min which equates to 23mm/s. Not fast but can be explained by the laser tube characteristics. High power allows faster engraving but makes the beam wider and you lose the fine details. Also further ionisation of the gas takes time so the tube isn’t as responsive as say a laser solid state LED diode. As you see the results are pretty impressive!
