upgrading limit switches

Evening guys, I think ive narrowed 1 of my issues down to poor limit switches

The Y optical has given up now.

I've got new machanical switches and i'm printing a mount for them.
I can see on the board the pins I need to connect too.

Whats the best way to disable the old optical switches, i'm assuming i cant just disconnect the sister board as the Y stepper runs through it.
How do I stop the Gerbil from receiving multiple commands.

Second thoughts, can i desolder the optical and reuse the ribbon connect and solder in my switches on the new mount?

Edit...i've looked for the schematic of the old gerbil to see if I can see the pin out of the ribbon conector. Cant seem to find it.

Would this wiring be suitable for the Gerbil?

Reading this thread. Confirms that limit switches should be in NC config.

Yes that looks about right to me. They are normally closed (NC). Cheers!

Any chance we have a pinout for the ribbon cable?

Hoping it will save me from running additional cable if I can solder onto the back of the sister board.
