What would be the best option for wifi

I have recently upgraded to the mini Gerbil and I am trying to add wifi to it. With that being said I have no experience with this and would love a plug and play option if available, but I won't hold my breath.

It was also suggested to me that I might want to get a Raspberry Pi 3 B+, so I could use it to power and control a webcam as well. Again I have no knowledge here, but it is a feature I would like if possible since I plan on using lightburn.

There are UART pins (labelled JP10) on the board and a bridge jumper jp6 to switch it to UART mode (led will goto fast blinking). You can hook this up to a HC-05 BT module or WiFi module (although last option is not tested). So far we see significant performance issues (raster goes back to 75mm/s) when streaming over BT. If you don't mind and just do cutting and slow rastering then this is possible.

I will be doing as much or more rastering, so I would like to keep the speeds up.

Is the Pi option a valid solution, and if so can a complete beginner make it happen?

The process of setting up a raspberry Pi can be daunting. Especially when updating libraries and getting the Pi to work. I had an early version that did not work with the WiFi Dongle. The second one, the B version was more successful. Also it was just not powerful enough for the application (Kiosk that shows the website stats on a monitor).

So I would not recommend this for a complete beginner. You could ask a IT savvy nephew or acquaintance for setting it up. Cheers, Paul

Thank you Paul,
I appreciate your advice. I may just backburner this until I find someone who has the skill set that can lend a hand.
Or I may just give it a go and try to learn in the process.
