Recommended stepper motors for MG3 on K40
I recently purchased the MG3 for my K40 40w laser (replacing the MG2) and want to replace both stepper motors. Does anyone have links to recommended motors? I know the y-axis is dual shaft. Just want to replace motors not beef up. Thanks, Chris
Hi Chris,
as far as we can work out K40's are produced in a few factories around China, they're a generic product and don't have a quality brand associated with them, so there's no spare parts catalogue or service. It's really tricky.
Here's the options I know about

1 purchase an old K40 for parts.
2 contact whatever company you purchased your K40 from
3 Inspect the K40 parts, in this case motors, and google any part number you see printed on it. This can be a long rabbit hole but might eventually get you what you want
4 Look around on other forums. This forum is relatively small compared to others.

Thanks Dan. I have ready that post and those links for the motors are no longer valid, and I also read the exhaustive post linked to that. The motors have no stickers, and I only know it needs to be .9 deg stepper motor. I just need to find a dual shaft .9 deg stepper motor for the y-axis. Any help on a decent dual shaft .9 deg Nema 17 would be appreciated.
I was not sure what you recommend with your MG3 stepper drivers on that board.
