Grayscale/power-speed matrices
Quote from KranjskaKlobasa on December 8, 2019, 11:59 pmI bought a Mini Gerbil board and would like to start with the material tests (with Lightburn).
Some FB groups mention, that it is not good to push the laser beyond 16-18mA. I was wondering if this limitation also applies to the cutting operation?
I saw there are some grayscale/power-speed matrices found on the web, but I'm not sure how the settings translate to the gerbil boards.
I did found this tutorial, where one-row settings are described for engraving and cutting.
What would be some settings to try out (e.g. speed intervals and power ranges) to construct such matrices and to try them out on a k40? Are there any existing Lightburn files to test this?
Thank you.

Further there are test cards on thingiverse see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2075051
and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:728579
The laser tube should never be run on max during engraving and cuttings.
Cheers, Paul
