A common issue with a line starting from zero is a bad ground which causes the pwm signal to be just above zero volt.  Please reseat the big connector on the mini gerbil and check if the inner prong for the ground signal still sits well in the connector housing.  Sometimes the prong and attached wire is pushed upwards, you see this when the wire prong connection comes out of the connector. Just gentle push it back down into the connector with a small pair of  plies while the big connector is inserted on the mini gerbil header. Also check the psu side, screw terminals can get loose too.
