CNC Shield K40 laser control wiring ?

I purchased a K40 laser and was excited to upgrade it with a CNC shield using GRBL and Laserweb4. After several all nighters I am finally down to wiring the laser control wiring.

I am using a CNC Shield (v3.0) The K40 Power supply has one 4 pin connector with L- 5vdc-Gnd-24vdc . Another six pin connector that has the control pot three control pot wires, one wire to controll laser enable and two pins for an interlock.

after searching the internet for several days I have yet to find specific instructions or a wiring diagram as what pins on the CNC shield to use or where to connect them to the K40 power supply.

What is the wire labeled "L".  Does it control the laser or just enable it?

Do I use SpnEn SpinDr or Z+ to control the laser?

I had to  invert the Limit pins ($5=1) because the Optical end stops hold low and return high when engaged. I don't know if this affects Z+ pin or not.

It is turning daylight now so it is time for bed. I am hoping someone has the answers I need to finish this project.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, the L stands for Laser on or enable. You need to pull L down to zero via a control like SPIN_EN from your shield.

You use the PWM output (Spindle) to drive the IN terminal on the K40 power supply.

SpinDR stands for Spindle direction which only applies to spindle motors and not lasers. You can combine spindir and spinenable in the config when flashing the Arduino.

Z+ is the stepper output for a Z axis.

Hope this helps
