This photo gave me a lot of shades of grey

This is a photo of my wife with an African grey parrot and it is the first I have done that gave me this many shades of grey.

That's a nice picture Dave. Seems you got the settings dialled in.

Cheers and well done, Paul

Cheers, Paul awesome.tech

Really a nice picture. Can you share your setting and which kind of wood pls.

Is the result smooth or like a relief?

The picture was imported at 381 dpi.

Resolution = 15 Pixel/mm

Color to Grescale conversion = 0.21R+0.71G+0.07B

Greyscale Resolution =256

Engraving Speed = 928

$30 = 2000

$28 = 0

The result is about as smooth as can be had from an engraving but feels rough of course - definitely not a relief.

This was engraved on 1/8 inch Baltic birch plywood and it is a 4x6 inch print.

Here is another example with the same settings as my last post.  The gerbil engraving even shows the clouds.
