Laserweb

Laserweb needs to be configured to make it work:

Choose Grbl as board

Set the Laser on as M4, Laser off as M3 or M5

Set the laser power as i.e. 1000 or 2048 etc (Same as $30 setting of Gerbil. You can look up the settings via a gcode sender. Send $$ via the command line and Gerbil shows you the settings).

Will look up the exact locations of the Laserweb settings.

Thanks Paul.

Many thanks Paul

You're welcome John. LightBurn is also a nice laser cutting and raster program that you might want to try out.

Any idea what I can try?

Can you share a laser test fire macro that would work with Laserweb?

None of the programs (laserweb, lightburn) test fire works, and since dropping the gerbil in, my hardware test fire button no longer works.

I still get the rapid 3 pulse fire when I connect my gerbil to the laptop, and it cuts when it should as it executes the gcode, so I know that the programs are configured correctly. However something is out of alignment and I need a testfire option in order to do a mirror alignment.

Thanks!

If you install cncjs you can do test fires from within the software/pc. Alternative you can wire the LO port (first screw terminal on the first 4 pin connector from the right) to a push button that grounds the connection. That fires the laser.

Could you still add the 3 pin switch between PWM and rheostat control of the current and have the button work?

I think this is more of a laserweb issue. There should be an option for the test fire button to send a GRBL command to turn the laser on then off.

Just to add. CNCJS uses M3 as a CCW, M4 as a CW, and M5 as off. My Gerbil that I recently purchased for some reason doesn't seem to respond correctly to those commands. If I manually give it an M4 command my laser turns on and when I give it an M5 command nothing happens. It ends up turning off when I give it the M3 command. However, this is only indicated by a power light on my control panel because the laser doesn't actually fire and I haven't been able to get CNCJS to test fire at all =/

Engraving has been fine, I just haven't been able to dial it in at all

Hey Brandon, do you still have an issue with dialling in the power? Just let me know and I will investigate. Cheers

FYI  $10 should be 0 for LaserWeb!

A value of 3 is not anymore valid since Grbl 1.0.

If you want real time positioning of your laser head to be shown in the workspace.

Well spotted!

I also worked up a macro to use in conjunction with the outline button so the laser will fire and trace the size of your project. I will post once I get back to my computer
